Battery Carrying Restrictions
Dec 13, 2017

Plane with a lithium battery is limited

Industry experts said that lithium batteries have been placed on the ICAO's "Technical Instructions for the Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods by Air" list because lithium is an unstable metal and lithium batteries can easily cause spontaneous combustion when exposed to high altitude, so ICAO It has been stipulated that lithium batteries should be carried as checked baggage; if the lithium batteries are directly checked into the baggage, the baggage will be easily squeezed or collided in the small cargo space, increasing the dangerous coefficient of navigation.

ICAO announced the ban on lithium battery baggage

On February 22, 2016, ICAO issued an interim injunction banning the shipment of all rechargeable lithium batteries through passenger aircraft. The ban will last at least until 2018. The ban promulgated indicates that ICAO began to pay more attention to the risk of lithium batteries in the fire. Under the ban, starting from April 2016, airlines worldwide are forbidden to ship lithium batteries in passenger aircraft.
